Thank You, Network: Two Prospective Studies Reach Key Milestones

The Dental Implant Restoration Registry (DIRR) study has officially wrapped up data collection, with the last visit completed in November 2025. Across the Network, 136 practitioners enrolled at least one implant restoration, contributing to 1,454 participants, 2,083 implant restorations, and approximately 1,800 follow-up visits. This represents one of the most practice-relevant real-world implant datasets the Network has assembled to date. These numbers reflect the everyday work happening in your operatories and will help inform how implant restorations are planned, delivered, and followed over time.

The Periodontal Adjunctive Antibiotics Study (PAAS) also reached a key project milestone with the completion of data collection in December 2025. This randomized clinical trial evaluates how adjunctive antibiotics perform alongside standard periodontal therapy. Across 3 Network Nodes, 36 practitioners contributed data from 258 consented participants, including 239 randomized, 227 baseline visits, 180 V2 visits, and 134 V3 visits (final counts subject to data cleaning). This level of engagement positions PAAS to answer timely questions about periodontal treatment and antibiotic stewardship in everyday practice.

Thank you to every practitioner, coordinator, and team member who contributed time, expertise, and energy to this effort. Over the coming months, we’ll be analyzing these data and sharing results and practice‑oriented summaries on our blog and in future issues of our newsletter, so stay tuned for findings you can use in everyday dental care.

Results Are Coming — Here’s How You Can Help Us Share Them Widely

If you participated in DIRR, PAAS, POPS, FreSH or any recent study in our Network, there are several meaningful ways to stay involved as we move into the results and dissemination phase.

  • Collaborate with study teams on writing or co‑authoring manuscripts, abstracts, or presentations that bring Network findings to the broader dental community.
  • Present results and “lessons from the trenches” at local study clubs, dental society meetings, or residency programs, highlighting how Network studies connect directly to day‑to‑day practice.
  • Work with us to develop patient‑ and practitioner‑friendly leaflets that summarize key results in plain language, so you can share them chairside and with your colleagues.
