We recently hosted a webinar for PAAS study investigators within our Network. The session highlighted the study’s objectives, methodologies, and significant findings. An expert panel discussed the research’s future implications, followed by a Q&A session for deeper insights.
Webinar: Dental Implant Restoration Registry (DIRR), A Final Push Toward the Finish Line

The Dental Implant Restoration Registry (DIRR) is nearing the end of its third year, and we are entering a critical phase of the study. As the registry prepares to pause at the end of 2025, we are making a final push to bring patients back for their follow-up appointments. While we are hopeful that DIRR will continue in the next funding cycle, the strength of our current findings depends on what we do now.
On May 16, 2025, we hosted our fourth DIRR webinar, bringing together practitioners, researchers, and Network members to reflect on the study’s progress and focus on what still needs to be done. Dr. Joana Cunha-Cruz, Principal Investigator of DIRR, led the session with updates on study milestones and early insights from baseline data. With enrollment goals met and a strong foundation of data collected, the study now depends on follow-up visits to complete the picture.
The webinar also featured a panel discussion with four DIRR practitioners—Dr. Shad Hattaway, Dr. Vanessa Burton, Dr. Lana Atchley, and Dr. Mack Snead—who shared their experiences with the study. They offered practical strategies for encouraging patient return visits and reflected on the value of contributing to research that directly informs clinical care.
Thank you to everyone who attended the webinar and to all the practitioners supporting the DIRR study. Your participation helps move this research forward and contributes to advancements in dental implant science.
