Regional Meeting of Northeast Practitioners

The Northeast Region of the National Dental Practice Based Research Network held its second annual meeting on March 14th and 15th at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa in Rochester, New York. The successful meeting was attended by 86 participants representing 7 states in the region.  Seven hours of continuing education credit were given.

The keynote address was given by Dr. Patrick Foy (Network Practitioner).  Dr. Don DeNucci (NIDCR) gave an update of the network and Dr. Cyril Meyerowitz (Northeast Regional Director), on behalf of Dr. Gregg Gilbert (National Director), gave an update on study development. Drs. Julie Barna and Janice Pliszczak (Network Practitioners) presented results of previous practice-based research.
The three breakout session held included vigorous discussion among participants following presentations by Dr. Sharon Elad (Eastman Institute for Oral Health), “Treatment of Patients on Anticoagulants”; Dr. Dorota Kopycka-Kedzierawski (Northeast Deputy Director), “Treatment of Patients with Dentine Hypersensitivity”; and Dr. Thomas Hilton (Oregon Health and Science University), “The Cracked Tooth Registry Study”.
